We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Manager to join our team in our Raleigh, NC, corporate office.
The Role:
The Account Receivable Manager position is responsible for the credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. The Account Receivable Manager is also responsible for timely and accurate billing and monitoring any billing disputes that may arise.
This position is held fully accountable for leveraging well developed communication, leadership, analytical, and financial skills to coordinate and lead credit, collections, and accounts receivable activities. The Account Receivable Manager coordinates accounts for collections, collects on current and delinquent accounts, processes payments, and prepares invoices, statements, reports, and journal entries. This position is responsible for managing the AR team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leader of AR/Credit department. Works collaboratively with and serves as the consultant and subject matter expert for the CFO, Corporate and Financial Controllers, internal sales professionals, general contractors, and sub-contractors.
- Recommends changes in the credit policy to senior management
- Coordinates and leads credit meetings
- Coordinates lien filings and bond claims
- Acts as the contact for all bankruptcy cases in the finance department
- Reviews joint check agreements to ensure the company has proper coverage
- Reviews lien waivers to ensure their accuracy prior to management signing off
- Files Notices to Lien Agent
- Ensures ongoing system and departmental training of self and other credit team staff
- Acts as Credit & Collections Systems Super User
- Ensures accurate SOPs are documented and maintained for credit and collections department
- Ensures proper cross-training for backup purposes
- Utilizes financial, analytical, and critical thinking skills to develop, conduct, and organize high level analyses, and to complete financial reports and special projects that facilitate business decision making
- Displays capacity to meet deadlines, builds rapport with individuals at all levels and backgrounds, and maintains open communications and positive relations with cross-functional departments and teams both internal and external to Sunrock
- Works with the sales department to coordinate and streamline accurate and timely billing
- Accountable for enforcing the company’s credit policy, conducting credit investigations, collecting on current and delinquent accounts
- Creates and updates all credit department policies as needed
- Maintains a low percentage of delinquent accounts
- Responsible for all customer billings
- This may include special billings based on purchase order guidelines for specific customers
- Handles all railcar billing
- Works with Contracting Division to accurately bill at month end
- Receives and posts payments accurately to customer accounts
- Promptly addresses internal/external customer request, resolves issues in a timely manner, and adheres to customer service standards
- Assists with month end close and journal entries
- Manages customer credit files
- Monitors the credit granting and updating process
- Recommends credit limits to senior level management based on corporate guidelines
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of industry relevant credit experience. Has a thorough knowledge of credit-related laws. Willing to periodically travel to customer sites. Have considerable experience with customer negotiations. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current driver’s license required
- CBA (Credit Business Associate) or ability to obtain CBA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality must be practiced at all times.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to prioritize and organize assignments.
- Aptitude to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Capability to respond to common inquiries from management, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Strong organizational skills and good written and verbal communications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to handle high volume of work efficiently.
- Capable of sound decision making in a fast-paced office environment.
- Expected to travel to customer locations to pick up payments and develop interpersonal relationships.
- Occasional overtime may be necessary.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in business administration, or a related field required. Five plus (5+) years of related experience. Construction/Heavy Industrial/Manufacturing experience preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience leading a team of AR professionals highly preferred.
