ABOUT US :
The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East (FPA-E) sets policy and manages flood protection operations in Jefferson, Orleans, and St.
Bernard Parishes on the east bank of the Mississippi River. FPA-E is directly responsible for flood protection systems consisting of the new Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS), the Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Levee System, and the Interior Nonfederal Levee Systems.
Our mission is to protect life and property by ensuring the physical and operational integrity of this system of levees in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes.
We accomplish this mission by working with local, regional, state, and federal partners to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction.
The Operations Department of the FPA-E oversees the staffing, operation, and maintenance of 3 multi-million-dollar Permanent Canal Closure and Pump Station (PCCP) facilities located along the Lake Pontchartrain Lakefront in Orleans Parish that form part of the overall HSDRRS.
ABOUT THE POSITION :
There are three (3) PCCP managers in total (Controls Specialist, Power Generation Specialist, and Electrical Specialist) that work together using their unique set of skills to solve any challenges faced.
As the Controls Specialist Manager, you would lead a small team of skilled individuals, and be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a tremendously complex and one-of-a-kind trio of facilities.
ABOUT YOU :
Day-to-day, you will act as facility manager and along with other members of the PCCP staff will perform routine test runs, maintenance and inspection of the system, along with general housekeeping of your assigned station.
You will also be called on to be the subject matter expert for any issues that arise with the controls systems, or serve as the point-of-contact for hired consultants or contractors for such work, at any of the PCCP sites.
Your typical work week is Mondays through Thursdays, from 6am to 4 : 30pm. However, you, along with the other PCCP managers, your assistants and support staff, are crucial to the SLFPA-E’s flood fight response, and considered essential and expected to work the duration of storm events.
