Expense Management Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a driven Expense Management Analyst to join our finance team. The Expense Management Analyst will play a critical role in managing and analyzing our company’s expenses, with a specific emphasis on reporting and analysis, collaborating with the Accounting Manager regularly. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of accounts payable processes.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze weekly and monthly reports relating to expenses, invoices, purchase orders and disbursements, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
• Develop and maintain expense management reporting systems, dashboards, and tools to monitor and analyze company-wide expenses.
• Obtain and document an all-inclusive understanding of the entirety of the Sage payables and expense disbursements process.
• Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely recording of expenses and adherence to accounting principles.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, general ledger reviews and account reconciliations.
• Evaluate processes and practices to facilitate the development and implementation of expense management policies, procedures, and controls.
• Assist Accounts Payable team in processing and reviewing invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
• Investigate, research, and resolve discrepancies by working with internal and external partners
• Provide support to employees regarding expense management policies, systems, and tools.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in expense management and reporting tools.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable or expense management related role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large sets of data.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor reconciliations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Yardi and QuickBooks experience preferred but not required.
