Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Head Accounting Clerk for Dining Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following
- Verify food vendor invoices for accuracy and ensure negotiated prices are paid.
- Process/batch food vendor invoices for submission to Accounts Payable for payment.
- Compile business unit(s) weekly financial reports for the manager’s review of weekly operating results.
- Review of the billing process for catered events- contract review, IPOs, IPO releases, contract revisions, and unpaid outstanding list.
- General ledger maintenance and review: journal entries, cash transmittals, check requests, ACH payment requests, and vendor payments.
- Performs clerical accounting/bookkeeping duties supportive to the operation of a business or fiscal office or department.
- Plans routines and procedures for the accounting/bookkeeping work of the unit.
- Acts as unit liaison.
- Resolves processing issues.
- Reconciles and inputs commitments to general ledger.
- Monitors expenditures of departmental budget and grant accounts, compiles and prepares spreadsheets, and drafts standard financial, statistical, and fiscal reports.
- Inputs, records, and compiles accounting and related data; initiates accounting actions and prepares documents for processing and reporting activities.
- Prepares billings, receives cash and checks, and prepares transmittals for deposits.
- Proves out cashbooks and balances out accounts payable register.
- Maintains subsidiary financial records and performs related duties.
