Senior Associate, Tax Controversy – Entity Unit, Washington National Tax

• *Location can be anywhere that we have offices in the U.S., we offer both hybrid and remote.
• Understanding the impact of existing tax laws is hard enough, and new legislation, judicial decisions and administrative authority compound the challenges. Professionals in RSM’s Washington National Tax (WNT) office advise clients and RSM client engagement teams with respect to complex issues across a wide range of tax specialty practice areas. WNT is seeking a professional to join its Tax Controversy/Practice and Procedure team.
• We are looking for a professional who will assist the team members with Internal Revenue Service Entity Unit issues. Such assistance includes updates to the clients’ entity status, name changes, EIN retention. The job will also involve interest and penalty calculations on the tax due to the IRS. RSM will provide training to those who have no such experience. You will also work with other tax professionals on the team and assist with a variety of tax controversy, tax practice and procedure issues. Specific responsibilities will include:
• Assist experienced professionals with IRS Entity Unit issues;
• Possess knowledge and be able to do interest or penalty calculations on the tax due. RSM will train those candidates that have no experience with interest and penalty calculations.
• Assist other tax professionals with drafting cover letters to the IRS, preparation of Power of Attorneys, assistance with a monthly newsletter.
• Participate in firm trainings.

Basic Qualifications:

• College Degree
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong research and writing skills
• Willingness to learn, prepare and take the enrolled agent examination

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree
• Bachelor Degree in Tax is preferred 0-2 years of experience in a professional office
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
