Position Summary
The Assistant Quality Manager-Metrology is responsible for supporting the Quality Manager in maintaining an overall effective quality management system and providing QE support for areas managed. The Assistant Quality Manager-Metrology oversees Inspection Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, NDI III, and CMM Programmer/Lead. They support and provide direction to subordinates when the normal supervisor is absent. They also engage with customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to support the Quality Management system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and grow the integrity of Royal’s quality management system to continually ensure it meets all customer and product requirements.
- Participate, assist, and effectively validate Root Cause Corrective Actions.
- Assist in new project onboarding
- Provide metrology guidance and overview for inspection department.
- Assist FAI and Source Manager as needed to coordinate resources for First Article Inspection (FAI) and Source inspections.
- Coach all department supervisors and direct reports to prioritize workloads around the shipping schedule.
- Function as necessary for any customer and/or regulatory audits.
- Assist Training Coordinator in the creation, management, and execution of Quality Training Plans.
- Approve timecards for direct reports and in the absence of the Quality Manager.
- Participate in the performance reviews of subordinates, assist in setting clear goals, and hold employees accountable.
- Monitor, coach, develop, and grow employees.
- Initiate emergency action plan to keep employees safe in the event of a plant emergency.
- Update employees on new procedures and upcoming events.
- Responsibly handle all issues that arise within the departments and engage the Quality Manager as needed.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance as set by the supervisor according to handbook guidelines consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Abide by all safety, quality, personnel, and other policies as applicable.
Marginal Work Requirements
- Company travel via airplane and/or vehicle as needed.
- Actively engage in the department’s 6-S program and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the good of the department and company.
- Specification testing per customer and certification requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Work Qualifications:
- Formal education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or cumulative field experience of 5 years.
- Experience: A minimum 3 years’ experience in one or more of the following: Composite materials, destructive testing, quality systems, product acceptance criteria, working knowledge of GD & T, digital inspection techniques, and process compliance management.
- Computer Skills: Must be able to use common office software systems relative to data entry and ERP system.
- Certificates and Licenses: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (Preferred)

- Strong communications skills, including the ability to work with customers, co-workers, other departments, and suppliers.
- Ability to facilitate as needed on continuous improvement projects and develop corrective action plans that support the elimination of nonconforming product.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to identify, organize and execute a documented improvement plan and the team members best suited to execute a successful plan.
