Position Summary:
The Manager, Finance and Accounting plays a vital role in providing financial management services to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. As a financial partner to all departments and as a key partner to the Chief Financial Officer, the primary responsibilities are managing the nonprofit accounting reporting and preparing financial statements that are in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager is responsible for the RBAC?s accounting and finance functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the RBAC?s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives as well as preparing financial reports and presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

General Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:

• Department Oversight: Leads the daily operation of accounting and finance including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable; serving as department leader in partnership with senior leaders and executive leadership team.

• General Accounting: Leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of the books, including but not limited to reviewing accounts for accuracy, making journal entries, tracking depreciation, recording the receipt and release of restricted funding, and completing monthly bank reconciliations.

• Revenue & A/R: Reconcile billing systems with Quickbooks on a monthly basis to ensure revenue is accounted for accurately.

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assists with the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly reporting.

• Compliance: Ensures regulatory compliance through required filings, including but not limited to, license and permit renewals, quarterly sales and use tax prepayments and returns, IRS 1099s, the annual claim for welfare exemption and business property statement, the annual environmental fee return, and the annual retirement benefit filings (Forms 5500 and 8955-SSA).

• Insurance Support: Provides requested data for the annual workers? compensation policy audit, and the commercial package and health and welfare insurance annual renewals. Closely monitors insurance billing in partnership with the Manager, Human Resources.

• Audit & Tax: Ensures income tax compliance for the accurate and timely completion of all income tax returns and annual audit.

Reporting & Planning

• In close collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, prepares budget templates for department heads and helps guide them through the budget process; prepares the annual budget for corporate accounts not tied to specific departments; maintains the master budget.

• Prepares forecasts and financial analyses to assist with decision-making, as requested by the Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer, and Board of Directors, including attending Board and Committee meetings to participate and take minutes.

• Assists the external auditors by providing supporting documentation for financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures during the annual financial audit.

• Prepares GAAP and non-GAAP financial reports and materials for the monthly Board meetings and assists with taking of the minutes.

• Supports the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer with ad hoc projects and reports.

Internal Controls & Systems:

• Assist in maintaining systems and controls that verify the integrity of all technological/financial systems, processes, and data.

• Develops, evaluates, and oversees policies and procedures consistent with the RBAC?s strategic plan and financial objectives.

• Assists in developing reporting systems, metrics, tools, analyses, and user training to clearly communicate accurate, timely, and relevant information to managers to manage their departments.

• Periodically reviews the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of internal controls throughout the organization, ensuring compliance with established policies & procedures and recommending updates to the policies & procedures as needed.
