Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Controller to join the ranks at a well-respected Non-Profit company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Key responsibilities
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements – Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
CPA or MBA preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
