Robert Half is searching for an ambitious Financial Controller eager to join the team at a reputable Energy related manufacturing company. In this leadership role, you will manage a small accounting team. The Financial Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, prepare and review budgeting and forecasting activities for international subsidiaries, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The permanent Financial Controller position is situated in the Houston, Texas area and the company offers a hybrid office model.
Your responsibilities
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Guide all operations of the finance department, including month end, budgeting/forecasting, financial statement review, accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller or Sr. Accountant Lead is preferred
Prior work done in public accounting is preferred
Adeptness in International Subsidiaries
Management reporting experience
Financial reporting experience preferred
Month end closings experience
Knowledge of budget forecasting
Ad Hoc Reporting experience
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
