Director of Finance opportunity in Greater Fairfield County!

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and finance function for this non-profit organization. Collaborating with the President/CEO and management team, this role involves developing and implementing both short and long term financial strategies to enhance the agency’s fiscal health and operational systems, managing the accounting function and team, administration and working with Community Outreach, Events, and varied responsibilities of Financial Development with CEO.
Prepare and deliver financial reports to the President/CEO, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors, including detailed analysis of expenses, cash flow updates, and projections.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual financial reports for grant funders according to contract terms.
Develop grant budgets for funding applications and contract renewals, while ensuring timely submission of financial reports to grant funders in accordance with contract terms.
Lead the annual budgeting process, gathering input from staff, management, and board committees to allocate funds appropriately for program and administrative needs.
Oversee financial controls and standards, maintaining robust internal controls to ensure accurate transaction reporting and asset protection.
Manage short- and long-term cash flow requirements, forecasting immediate and future financial needs of the agency.
Collaborate with various departments, including Development, Programs, and Operations, to secure adequate funding for program initiatives and administrative functions.
Work closely with Program staff and the Development department to ensure proper utilization of grant funds in compliance with contractual obligations.
Facilitate audit and tax functions, ensuring preparation for annual financial audits and timely submission of tax filings to relevant authorities.
Collaborate with the Development department to conduct cost analyses of programs and events for reporting and fundraising purposes.
Resolve personnel, grant, and partner-related issues in collaboration with the CEO/President.
Address maintenance needs of various facilities and assist in strategic planning for community growth and service needs.
Oversee payroll processing and administration of employee benefits plans, including retirement, health insurance, and Paid Time Off (PTO).
Undertake special projects as assigned by senior management.
BS in Accounting, Finance or related.
5+ years of accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
Non-profit industry experience is preferred.
Grant reporting is a plus but not required!

Requirements
BS in Accounting, Finance or related.
5+ years of accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
Non-profit industry experience is preferred.
Grant reporting is a plus but not required!
Excellent communication skills.
