The Finance Director serves as a strategic thought-partner and reports to the CEO and provides hands-on and participative management and leadership to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and facilities management. The Finance Director plays a critical role in collaborating with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as the Roanoke Valley SPCA and Mountain View Humane (our subsidiary high-volume spay/neuter clinic located in Christiansburg, VA) continue to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. The Finance Director also provides financial oversight and leadership to Mountain View Humane.
The Roanoke Valley SPCA and Mountain View Humane have a combined budget of approximately 2 million dollars. Both organization undergo an annual independent audit. Additional financial information can be found on the Roanoke Valley SPCA website and the Mountain View Humane website and reviewing our annual 990s for the past several years. The Finance Director is support at the Roanoke Valley SPCA by a part-time Finance Assistant and at Mountain View Humane by a full-time Assistant Director and Finance Manager.
The budgeted salary is $65,000, but the organization is open to reasonable discussions with all candidates. The Roanoke Valley SPCA offers a competitive benefits package with four weeks of paid vacation, two weeks of paid sick time, 10 holidays, zero deductible health insurance with over 75% employer cover premiums.
The ideal candidate has a BS in Accounting is a CPA or holds an MBA, with 5 to 10 years of experience, and experience in human resources and nonprofit accounting. However, the organization recognizes that no one candidate will possess all the desired qualities and individuals fitting a combination of these skills are highly encouraged to apply.
