About this Position:
Title: Finance Director, Bookings & Revenue
Location: San Francisco, CA / remote
We are looking for a Finance Director, Bookings & Revenue to join our Sales Finance team. The right person will lead the Riverbed bookings and revenue function in Sales Finance as we continue to scale the company and drive profitability. This person will be responsible for enabling achievement of Riverbed’s revenue and margin goals by providing leadership, planning and modeling, business insight and outstanding business partnering skills. This hands-on role will report to the Senior Director of Sales Finance and will have frequent interactions with executive management team; supporting and acting quickly based on their business needs and feedback.
Requirements:
Own the global, annual, quarterly, monthly sales bookings and revenue forecasting and budgeting process, and related internal and external reporting
Lead and coach a team of 1 or more financial analysts while being able to execute the individual contributor aspects of financial close
Exhibit strong leadership capabilities. Ability to hire, motivate, develop and retain employee(s)
Identify best practice approaches related to systems, processes, and procedures
Serve as the Riverbed leader and expert in bookings and revenue forecasting and analytics
Collaborate with partners both in the CFO organization and across the company.
Provide expert guidance on bookings and revenue forecast related to new product introductions and initiatives.
Maintain agility and be responsive to changing business needs.
Participate in key strategic initiatives and provide full support for company initiatives to establish effective sales and operations planning and forecasting process.
Prepare full revenue and cost of revenue forecasts by product line and month for Riverbed’s annual operating plan, for both short term and long term forecasting and planning.
Conduct sales and operations reviews throughout the quarter to identify issues and risks that could impact revenue achievement. See that issues/risks are being addressed on a timely basis.
Lead revenue flash meetings during last two weeks of quarter, conducting a deep dive on likely revenue achievement.
Analyze and explain variances between actual revenue and forecast and budget Provide revenue, deferred revenue and backlog data for monthly board package
Partner with Operations Management to enhance longer term revenue planning and related procurement planning.
Improve forecasting of standard margin for products and expand revenue flash process to include margin analysis and EBITDA impact
Improve backlog reporting to account for unbilled backlog
Act as a trusted financial and business partner for Riverbed’s senior management; drive the daily execution of financial controls
Ad hoc projects, modeling, and sensitivity analysis
Drive process improvements to support the company’s growth at scale
Qualifications
10 years+ of experience in financial planning and analysis, and revenue management in the high-tech, prior people management experience of 2+ years preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred
Solid understanding and familiarity with revenue accounting. Experience working with both subscription and revenues recognized at point of sale (upfront revenue)
Strong financial modelling skills
Comfortable leading cross-functional teams through ambiguity and complexit
Attention to detail, integrity, dedication, organizational skills, and ability to meet firm deadlines is a must
Prior experience creating financial statements and business unit presentations preferred
Working knowledge of GAAP (including accruals, account reconciliations, and capitalization versus expense)
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
Must have great problem solving skills, be a self-starter, understand business issues and be able to clearly and concisely put together recommendations and implementation plans
Strong proficiency with Excel (advanced functions), Planning systems (Adaptive Insight, Host, Anaplan, etc), Oracle Financials, OBI, Tableau
Familiarity with Adaptive Planning
Familiarity with RevPro reporting
