Summary: Responsible for oversight of all financial transactions, reporting, forecasting, and monitoring of key financial metrics and performance of the business, including specific divisions and/or locations. Leads the accounting staff in process improvement and skill development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Processing of biweekly payroll, including data entry for new hires, time entries, benefit and deduction changes, payments of commissions, bonuses, corrections, etc. Performs pre- and post-audit of payroll data to confirm accuracy and completeness of wage/pay data, including review and entry of final data to general ledger.
2. Assist accounting staff in accounts payable process, including routing documents for departmental approval, educating staff on proper GL codes, expense allocation methodology and monitoring budget constraints.
3. Lead month end process including related journal entries for multiple locations, intercompany transactions, direct and indirect expense allocations as well as divisional reporting.
4. Lead the development and maintenance of cash & revenue forecasts, tracking historical financial data, and managing payables to maintain sufficient cash flows and meet operational needs.
a. Perform cost analysis and projections for large equipment or capital purchases or repairs.
5. Prepare and review financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy and completeness and make recommendations for process or operational improvements.
a. Develop and maintain financial and operational metrics and scorecards.
6. Lead annual business planning, budget and forecasting activities for operational departments as well as shared services (HR, IT, admin, etc.)
7. Coordinate with third party vendors and tax professionals to complete annual tax returns, maintain fixed asset reporting; calculate and submit regular filing and payment of other state and federal taxes, including sales tax. Provide audit assistance as required.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with banks, lenders, vendors to ensure superior service and value is achieved.
Required education, knowledge, skills, and other abilities:
Education: BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA or MBA preferred but not required.
Minimum Required Experience: 5+ years of progressive and advanced accounting experience, specifically in a leadership role and including financial reporting, analysis, and budget preparation.
Computer Skills: Prior experience with computer systems, financial/accounting software, and advanced MS Office skills, specifically in Excel using formulas, pivot tables and v-lookups.
Trainings / Certifications: CPA, CMA or MBA preferred but not required.
