Position Summary

The Housing Justice Narrative Campaign Manager for ISC is a two-year grant funded position that will work closely with Narrative Arts and Culture to support the Housing Justice Narrative Campaign, together with our campaign partners PolicyLink and Community Change. Specifically the HJN manager will serve as a bridge to institutional strategies for the campaign, in particular bridging campaign sites to GARE members, developing relationships with supportive community development organizations, engaging jurisdictions in models emerging from the campaign, researching models currently in use among the membership that meets the standard of treating housing as a public good, and promoting models of housing as a public good with local government and community development organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinating between Institutional and Sectoral Change, Narrative, Arts and Culture and Housing Justice Narrative campaign partners

Researching and documenting promising housing models.

Serving as a liaison between the campaign and GARE members.

Creating programming for GARE members on housing as a public good.

Promoting housing as a public good model within relevant institutional contexts.

Organizing strategic dialogue on the campaign goals among institutional actors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform successfully in this role, incumbent should possess skills identified below:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

An understanding of housing models and the housing system in the United States.

An understanding of finance models.

Awareness of the social and racial justice movement landscape with regard to housing.

An understanding of community development models.

Facilitation and coordination skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated commitment to racial justice

Experience in organizing within the housing movement, the public sector or in community development

Coalition-building experience and a track record of working with organizations and/or government entities around collective impact

Experience in facilitation working with multiple different stakeholders

Project management experience

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Additional Information

This position requires long periods of time at a desk on a computer and may require time outside of normal business hours.
