Job Title : Accounting Manager Job Summary : The primary responsibilities of this role are preparing / reviewing monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, reviewing, and posting subsidiary journals, creating, and posting general journal entries, providing outside auditor correspondence, invoice coding, and other tasks as assigned to support the Accounting Department
The candidate must be analytical, possess a strong aptitude for technical accounting, capable of multitasking, and possess the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Duties / Responsibilities : Assist in preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements and budgetsPlay a vital part in the company’s financial management which includes account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties
Prepare and assist in reviewing balance sheet reconciliationsEnsure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP requirements
Understand processes, document, and implement process improvements as neededLead the preparation of regulatory filingsCreate and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations, and reconciliation procedures
Maintains accurate and organized records and ensures that subsidiary and general journal entries are accurately posted in the accounting systems
Maintaining the fixed asset depreciation system and posting applicable monthly depreciation expense, additions, and disposals
Approving ACH banking transactionsManage accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, or accounts payable as needed
Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities Interacts and communicates with fellow employees, drivers, customers, and outside auditors in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner in person, by email, and on a telephone
Cross training and additional duties as assigned Required Skills / Abilities : Fundamental knowledge of GAAPMust have proven ability with MS Office, advanced MS Excel skills preferred
Detail-oriented and consistently able to meet deadlinesMust have excellent communication and analytical skillsMust possess the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience : College degree with a concentration in accounting or business is mandatoryPublic accounting experience is preferred
Transportation experience is preferredMcLeod Powerbroker transportation software knowledge is desiredFive () years of prior Staff / Senior Accountant experience is preferred
Intercompany experience preferred Business and Leadership Competencies : Teambuilding skills and the ability to drive change
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsHigh energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to the teamWillingness to understand and support change, as it relates to processes, structure, and business modeling
