We are seeking a Manager, Finance and Credit at our corporate headquarters in Flowood to direct and manage the Company’s retail finance, credit, and collection functions while ensuring compliance with the Company’s related policies. This is a mid to senior level corporate management position that reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the function of the Assistant Credit Manager, the Collections Coordinator, the Finance/Credit Assistant, and the Credit Assistant to ensure that all credit and collection administration and department operations are executed at a consistently high level of quality and customer satisfaction and in compliance with all related regulatory requirements. Hire, train and evaluate performance; prepare and administer disciplinary actions; prepare staffing schedules and assignments; plan and facilitate employee training and development to ensure the team develops the necessary skills to achieve maximum results.
Evaluate, recommend, negotiate, and implement competitive financing strategies for the Company’s heavy equipment customers. Serve as the point of contact and manage the Company’s relationship with Caterpillar and other allied financing sources for customers.
Oversee the Company’s credit risk management activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Perform analysis of the financial strength of new and existing customers and their credit support providers, determine appropriate credit limits and/or credit enhancement requirements, monitor and manage compliance with established credit limits, and oversee maintenance of customer credit files and related documents. Oversee the approval of credit limits for customers pursuant to the Company’s credit policy and delegation of authority. Evaluate the Company’s credit risk management policies and recommend changes as appropriate.
Oversee the Company’s collection activities and compliance with established policies and procedures including customer accounts receivable aging analysis, DSO, workouts, legal proceedings. Serve as escalation point for collection problems. Develop and negotiate work out plans or other risk mitigation strategies and actively work with accounts in financial distress (in coordination with legal counsel, bonding companies, and debt collection agents) to ensure the Company receives all monies due and minimize/eliminate bad debt write offs. Communicate with team members and other stakeholders on collection issues and concerns. Provide senior management with a weekly update on critical accounts with significant past due balances.
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities within Finance and Credit, as well as and in conjunction with other Company departments as needed.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor or higher college degree from accredited institution in finance, accounting, business administration, or related discipline required.
Minimum 8-10 years of combined management level experience in corporate retail finance, credit and/or collections, preferably involving high dollar consumer/commercial transactions. Therein, a minimum of 2-4 years of supervisory experience with dedicated people management responsibility required.
Dedicated work experience in financial analysis and structuring of commercial loans, including cash flow analysis, industry-standard financial ratios/covenants, and establishing loan collateralization.
Dedicated work experience reviewing financial information to identify key credit risks and deviations from operational standards to make suggestions to mitigate credit and operational risk. Proficiency with finance/credit/collection policy, practices, procedures and Fair Debt and Collection law.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Refined customer relations, written, verbal, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
A refined “hands on” leadership style which is motivating and optimizes team effectiveness.
Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management and mentor those who report through the position.
Ability to resolve customer service conflicts with professionalism and consistent application of company policy;
