The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a registered nurse with specialized education. The development of specific technical skills enables the RNFA to assist the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. This RNFA role is responsible for first assisting on surgical procedures and coordinating all aspects of such.
Required qualification:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Graduation from a recognized RNFA program is required within 1 year of starting in position. Must be enrolled in an eligible program upon hire into role.
- 3 years Experience and expertise in perioperative nursing including scrubbing and circulating.
- Required upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
- Required upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
- Required upon hire: Current CNOR
Preferred qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Previous RNFA experience
