PE is seeking a full time Engineer/Scientist to add to the existing Engineering Division in the St. . Louis office. The ideal candidate will meet all of the minimum requirements listed below. . PE is seeking a dynamic individual capable of working with a team of professionals either participating, assisting, or leading efforts to conduct site characterization and engineering activities at potentially hazardous waste sites on federal or commercial land and facilities. Assignments usually include one or more of the following: field sampling, well installation, site reconnaissance surveys, field oversight, work plan report preparation, cost estimating, proposal development, and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the environmental consulting arena. . RESPONSIBILITIES Provide field and office support on a variety of environmental services including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, CERCLA/RCRA investigations, environmental remediation, and environmental compliance inspections. Develop work plans, health and safety plans, field sampling plans, sampling and analysis plans. . Perform field data collection and documentation related to site investigations; observation of drilling operations; installation of water wells or soil borings, lithological logging; and various field tests and measurements of soil, air, surface water and/or groundwater properties. Provide oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories, excavation, and drilling companies. . Prepare soil boring logs, cross-sections, contour maps, well schematics, and site maps. Prepare written reports, tables, spreadsheets, and maps for client and regulatory agency review. . MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical) or science (earth and planetary sciences, soil science, geophysics, hydrogeology, environmental geology, or chemistry) with an environmental emphasis. 3-5 years of related work experience Knowledge of geologic principles and local geologic framework, including the ability to independently identify local soil types using USCS or equivalent soil classification system and correlate site geology to regional geologic framework. . Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs including but not limited to federal programs such as CERCLA, RCRA, and NEPA and state programs such as Missouri Risk Based Corrective Action (MRBCA) and the Illinois Site Remediation Program (SRP). Experience reading, interpreting, and applying standard engineering techniques, ?procedures and criteria to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. . Computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe Professional Working knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD (preferred) Strong technical writing and technical presentation skills Strong communication and inter-personal skills to provide effective intra and inter-discipline coordination on projects, as well as effective communication with clients and vendors. Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others and have the ability/desire to lead tasks. . Proficiency in computer software programs, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. . OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and current 8-hr Refresher. Ability to travel (less than 25%). .
