PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Leads other Tool Room associates as well as works with other departments to solve production concerns. Motivates associates to reach a common goal and instructs those in need of training. Carry out the objectives of the company management, follow company policies and procedures. Evaluate and report to management the tool room associate’s skills, development and progress as it relates to the trade.
JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:

Maintain the established maintenance programs that successfully care for all tools to prevent quality and productivity problems.
Maintain tool improvement program that is data driven and successful in providing ongoing improvement related to die and tool performance.
Analyze machining and tooling problems and coordinate corrective action.
Provide instruction and guidance in the use of tool room equipment.
Maintains harmonious employer/associate relations among those within the department.
Assesses training needs of associates in department and recommends opportunities for development.
Participates in tool room associate relations activities from performance evaluations, to discipline, to hiring activities.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Directs CI improvement projects/meetings.
Direct, lead, and maintain team’s 5S excellence and adherence.
Performs activities of associates supervised.
Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
Punctual and regular attendance is required.
Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
Participates in continuous improvement activities.
Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
Managerial:
Supervises associates in the Tool Room. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills
Responsible for reading and understanding the IATF16949, ISO9001:2015 and ISO-14001procedures located at K:/winapps/data/TS Team/Quality System Documentation.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Business Judgment:
Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers. Maintain a higher standard of professional conduct and ethics in more complex business situations such as negotiations with customers or presentations to management.
