Responsibilities – Payroll Tax Specialist:
Manager to Payroll Department
Be the Payroll Specialist for a few of our larger clients when needed.
Lead all payroll tax activities, including compliance and filing of local, state, and federal payroll tax returns
Monitor, manage, and reconcile payroll taxes to ensure all funds have been impounded from clients and all tax payments made timely via ACH
Maintain all client’s payroll tax settings by monitoring tax liability thresholds, updating tax deposit frequencies, and verifying and updating annual unemployment tax rate changes
Audit all new client accounts loaded in the payroll software for accuracy and proper taxation setup
Research, document, and monitor payroll tax issues and tax notices ensuring timely resolutions
Stays abreast of current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll
Assist all Payroll Specialists and serve as their backup
Looks for process efficiencies and improvements and solicits team for input and participation
Maintains confidentiality with all sensitive client and internal data and information.
Will be assigned a select few payrolls accounts for payroll processing and serve as those clients’ dedicated Payroll Specialists.
Qualifications/Requirements – Payroll Tax Specialist:
In-depth knowledge of payroll procedures, tax legislation, accounting procedures, and audit requirements is required
A experience needed
Experience with resolving tax notice issues with various federal, state, and local agencies is required.
Understands pre and post-tax deductions, how it affects employee withholdings, and annual contribution limits.
Certified Payroll or Tax Professional certificate a plus but not required.
Possess superior logic and analytical skills.
Proven excellent attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and determine solutions.
Ability to work under limited supervision, effectively prioritize work, and lead the office when needed.
Able to meet deadlines
Superior Client Service
High school diploma or equivalent; BS/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
