POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is part of the executive team and will be the companys leader in all financial matters. Collaboration on the executive team means building strong relationships, helping one another to think differently about problems, and identifying the best solutions that grow our business. Taking care of people, community and planet is essential to the long-term success of the organization; its also simply the right thing to do. As a member of our executive team, the CFO will be charged with making decisions that balance the wellbeing of people, culture, and brand with profits.

A successful financial leader drives business performance by influencing and executing strategies that mitigate risk and leverage opportunities. This individual will propel the companys business performance by  respectfully challenging the teams to question the status quo, innovate, and improve. The CFO will lead our Finance and Accounting teams, emphasizing the use of business intelligence to drive efficiency, improve decision-making, support business performance and ensure profitable growth.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Team and Organization Leadership

• Advise the CEO, Board of Directors, and other executive team members on strategic plans with a focus on driving profitability in line with corporate culture and values.
• Recruit, retain, and develop a team that inspires excellence while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and authentic team environment and culture.
• Develop and lead high performing teams and individuals leveraging KPI’s and give appropriate feedback.
• Influence executive decisions and support business performance with data, respectful discussion, and challenges to the status quo.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships at all levels to understand the business context and provide insights, trends, and context to others to drive business performance.
• Serve as an active, collaborative, and supportive member of the executive team.
• Review legal documents and manage legal challenges in collaboration with counsel.
• Ensures compliance with food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Finance and Accounting Oversight

• Ensure sound financial management and control practices, including but not limited to internal financial reporting, internal controls, audits and compliance, accounting, strategic and operational financial planning and analysis, budget reporting, management reporting, as well as insurance and risk management. Ensure adequate controls, systems, and infrastructure are in place to support compliant and efficient processes and procedures.
• Lead Finance and Accounting to provide and interpret financial information and business intelligence to improve efficiency and decision making across functional units.
• Oversee analysis, including but not limited to product cost & pricing, margins, market strategies, product introductions, and reporting. Provide internal monthly reports and periodic reforecasting of the current year’s financial and business plans.
• Responsible for consulting with business units during budgeting and forecasting to support capital and business development projects.
• Provide projections, analysis, and guidance for consideration when analyzing business initiatives and opportunities, making course corrections or other important decisions that have significant financial implications.
• Manage the development, approval, and consolidation of short and long-term plans for operating and capital budgets, business plans, expense forecasting, profit sharing, resource planning, etc.
• Be the go-to internal ESOP expert
• Identify opportunities for innovation that have the potential to improve performance and offer a unique perspective on solving business problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience required. At least 2 of those years should have been in a CFO or financial executive leadership role.
• Experience in a consumer-packaged goods or manufacturing environment is highly desired.
• Outstanding analytical skills and a proven ability to connect data analysis with business issues and decisions. Advanced Excel and modeling skills.
• Ability to use business intelligence, KPIs, and trend analysis to forecast company performance and implement corrective action as needed.
• Ability to learn ESOP expertise including tax, reporting, and plan administration requirements.
• Values-driven leadership style to guide and develop a team in alignment with the company’s culture and business goals. The successful candidate will have passionately developed, led and managed high-performing teams and will respectfully challenge their teams to question the status quo, innovate and improve.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate across the organization at all levels.
• Frequent travel is required. Frequently travel outside the local area and overnight including domestic and rare international air travel.
