North American Corporation of Illinois Looking for Accounts Receivable Specialist at Glenview, Illinois Full Time

The purpose of this position is to manage a book of accounts’ receivable balances to a reduce past due balances by contacting customers (phone, email), developing solid internal and external business relationships, researching and expeditiously correcting various issues and to maximize cash collected against weekly targets.

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop a professional, customer-supporting business relationship to project a “can-do, will-do” attitude.
• Significant focus on actively and professionally collecting on past-due invoices primarily through meaningful phone contact and appropriate use of email as a means of providing supporting documentation.
• Reviews accounts receivable credit balances for refunds.
• Researches unapplied cash and follows up with customer.
• Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Ability to work high volume of customer transactions with high-level accuracy.
• Review orders on-hold due to credit limit and/or risk and advise appropriate course of action.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently within a team setting to resolve pricing, invoicing and collection issues.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies; duplicate payments, over payments and short-payments.
• Monitor and notate customer accounts in the iSeries system for delayed or non-payments, collection status, financial position, internal support requests and customer communications.
• Email / Fax invoices and summary statements to customers as needed.
• Prepare and update Excel spreadsheets to manage accounts, including the use of calculating functions such as Vlookups, general addition / subtraction formulas, calculating percentages and using pivot tables.
• Research, request and obtain proof of deliveries as needed from vendors and/or internal document repositories.
• Review and advise on new customer analysis related to credit rating (D&B) to determine appropriate credit limit.
• Assist with the posting of cash (including live checks, credit cards, lockboxes and ACH).
• Work independently to develop and perform daily tasks to achieve desired results.
• Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Business Degree preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable in a commercial or business-to-business environment.
• Excellent customer relationship building experience with significant phone contact experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Effective “what-if” problem-solving skills with the ability to independently determine and prioritize next steps.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. AS400, iSeries, SAP, or Oracle system experience preferred.
