Job Title: Associate Manager, Product Marketing – Sleeping Bags & Furniture

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

The Associate Manager is accountable for developing the product innovation and key marketing strategies for Coleman’s portfolio of Sleeping Bags and Furniture within Newell’s Outdoor and Recreation Business Unit. Our Associate Product Marketing Managers assist in developing product and brand strategy, pricing strategy, product portfolio management and brand communication plans.

What you will do

Product Strategy:

• Acts as a product champion, accountable for the category’s P&Ls.
• Drives key product category initiatives that effectively reach and connect with the consumers, driving growth and profitability.

Innovation:

• Assists Senior Manager in providing new thinking around brand or category innovation unlocking true white space or new to the world innovation. Executes new means for stimulating creativity, insight collection or idea generation leading to new to the world insights and product concepts.
• Works collaboratively with R&D and Consumer & Market Insights (CMI) to develop and create a brand &/or category innovation strategy, including role of sustaining and breakthrough innovation, new categories, and new market spaces.
• Effectively creates and presents a robust business case through the gate-keeping process aligning executive leadership to a brand’s product innovation strategy.
• Directly responsible for management across a broad portfolio balancing rhythm of entering or exiting product classes or SKUs and extending life cycles.

Insights:

• Educates others on the consumer and marketplace.
• Informs marketing metrics, key brand, and quality measures to track and understands the underlying drivers and interaction of each metric.
• Identifies gaps in marketplace understanding and champions analyses to fill these gaps.
• Gives input to the Consumer & Market Insights (CMI) team on the learning objectives and action standards for insight projects.
• Develops deep category knowledge across multiple categories and brands.

Pricing:

• Manages all product and category pricing to deliver against all key financial metrics

Qualifications

What you will need

• 2-4 years of equivalent product marketing experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a business-related field
• Experience translating marketing objectives into strategies and plans. Proven success in executing a comprehensive marketing plan that is integrated across multiple consumer touch points, including at point-of-purchase.
• Recommending pricing strategies and guardrails and managing price to extract maximum value.
• Participated in new product launches from concept stage through commercialization and in-market success. Has managed a product portfolio.
• Strong personal interest in the outdoors highly desirable.
• Demonstrated success working in a matrix environment.
• Strong communication skills, written and oral.
• Proven ability to work on and lead a cross-functional team.
• Fluency in English.
