The Challenge
We’re looking for a full-time temporary accountant to join the Office of Civil Rights team in our Raleigh headquarters. This long term temp opening lasts 11 months and may be renewed. You will get to work on the great team in NCDOT’s Office of Civil Rights that promotes and ensures NCDOT customers and employees have equal access and equal opportunity to participate in transportation programs without facing unlawful discrimination.
In this role, you will:
- Process invoices.
- Adjust budgets as needed.
- Create requisitions and purchase orders.
- Facilitate fixed assets.
- Perform ITS eBilling.
- Assist in the restructuring/implementing of the internal finance controls.
- Assist our finance manager in her daily work.
- Reconcile credit card statements.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Considerable knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices.
- Experience interpreting and applying common to moderately-complex Federal and State fiscal regulations.
- Experience analyzing and correcting financial problems and accounting errors.
- Experience preparing interpretive or analytical accounting or financial reports.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in accounting; or
- Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline, and
- 18 semester hours of accounting; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
