Full-time 1 day ago Full Job Description Operations Accounting Specialist- Payment Center Summary The Operations Accounting Specialist provides administrative accounting support to Operations, Treasury, and Audit departments through researching accounting, monitoring reports and clearing accounts, teaching teammates how to correct their accounting errors, processing journal entries and accounting solutions for various transactions, and stewarding key controls. This role is embedded in our Operations division (CIG) with a focus on internal customer service and works closely with other accounting functions in the finance department. Operations Accounting Specialists require strong technical knowledge about and an understanding of how various teams process payments (inbound and outbound) related to insurance and annuities. This role must adhere to regulations and Audit guidelines and ensure that the teams are following appropriate standards for timeliness and accuracy. Operations Accounting Specialists also teach proper accounting; ensuring teammates learn how to correct their own accounting and complete work accurately. Members of this department work closely with internal customers in Treasury, Payment Center, Document Management Systems, New Business, Contract Change, Title, IT, Business Analytics, Quality Control and various other areas of the company. Key Responsibilities: Ensure quality transactions and accurate accounting through review, light processing, and reconciliation. Daily monitoring, netting, and reconciling debits and credits to various accounts. Review and release Lawson journal entries. Review and certification of quarterly clearing account discrepancies via Blackline Reporting. Research for special projects – including detailed review of cases using multiple systems or processes. Handle a variety of detailed, out-of-the-ordinary tasks related to specials requests, legal settlements, or requests from auditors. Collaborate with Treasury and Financial Reporting teams on an ongoing basis. Assist and teach teammates (across multiple divisions) in understanding accounting and correcting mistakes. Drive continuous improvement across Operations through routine audit of clearing accounts. 1099 Reporting (TX, only) Skills to succeed: Outstanding analytical ability. Strong time management skills and able to meet established deadlines Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all settings Well-organized in a complex digital environment while working multiple cases at once; Comfortable toggling between multiple programs and screens Excellent, clear verbal and written communication skills Job Requirements: Life & Annuity industry experience preferred; completion of LOMA courses and other relevant coursework.
