ROLE OVERVIEW
As the 2nd shift Department Manager, you will be responsible for managing a department and setting compliance with regards to Melissa & Doug’s policies and vision based in the distribution center (DC) located onsite in our New Jersey Distribution Centers (Cranbury and Deans Road). . You will report to the General Manager. As a successful Department Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of the work, drive safety practices, meet customer SLA’s on shipments and maximize productivity of our warehouse. In addition, you will drive process improvement opportunities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee, train, guide and evaluate warehouse workers, including seasonal temporary workers
Assist with recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, and scheduling, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and enforcing policies and procedures
Assist in implementation, enforcement, and evaluation of distribution policies and procedures
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; and complying with legal regulations
Communicate and collaborate with other team members
Partner with the management team to streamline operating procedures for major functions within the department
Review Labor Management System (LMS) daily performance and productivity reports and trends; and collaborate with the management team on productivity results and follow-up action
Build, motivate and inspire a high performance team in the department
Manage other special projects as needed to support and improve DC operations
REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration is preferred
7+ years’ experience in warehouse operations
3+ years proven experience managing warehouse processes, people management, supervision, performance and operations reporting
Willingness to work long hours during peak season
Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
Team player
Good time-management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite
Ability to speak and write fluently Spanish is preferred
