Departmental Clinical Research Staffing Model
Receives and tracks new research funds on behalf of the department administrator, contracts and finance managers, working collaboratively with the department’s protocol manager. Ensures that all new research funds have a budget plan determined by the research nurse managers and data coordinator supervisors or other relevant supervisory personnel. Tracks research budget plans to see that they are affected promptly by corresponding personnel transactions. Records protocol assignments on the department’s consolidated research staffing model database, for over 230 employees. Updates as changes are made. Reviews data for integrity and resolves conflicts in data accordingly. Contributes to the documentation of this process as well as the design of the databases to be used and/or developed. Develops management reports for supervisors and managers as well as for the department’s management team.
Review and Reconciliation
Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in understanding the institution’s accounting and financial structure. Maintain a level of knowledge to use the applicable information technology and systems need to meet work needs. Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze and/or reconcile data; ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations and systems of internal controls; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations. Responsible for the monthly review and reconciliation of assigned funds according to institutional and departmental policies. Must access expense documentation both by paper file and online in order to complete review. Documents performance of fund reconciliation within the institutional guidelines and timeframe. Educate department staff about institutional procedures, guidelines and policies related to the finances of the department and institution.
Retrieve or file material on a daily basis – retrieving and returning grant files to a central site. As files are created, handled or reviewed, arrange file material in an appropriate and chronologic fashion according to defined conventions. Contribute to shared computer files and file libraries, ensuring integrity of such. Develop shared document forms and review/revise same on a regular basis. Updates the department’s various databases with support documents information. Requires the ability to synthesize a myriad of information pertaining to the area of research. Performance of duties will require that this position work within a context of very intense interpersonal relationships with faculty, patients, research and other staff. Must establish and maintain rapport with physicians, patients, industry, consultants, and peers. Requires an individual with strong database and computer skills, as well as administrative excellence. Other duties as required. Requires the ability to synthesize a myriad of information pertaining to the area of research.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related.
Required: One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
