McPherson Center for Health serves the McPherson community and surrounding areas with its 300+ employees including highly skilled, interdisciplinary clinical staff. It sees more than 6,000 emergency room visits and over 25,000 outpatient visits annually. McPherson Center for Health delivers around-the-clock care in adult and pediatric emergencies in addition to providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care.

Job Description: Accounts Payable Clerk

• Fulltime: Monday- Friday 8:00-4:30

Job Summary: The Accounts Payable Clerk processes the accounts payable daily to provide clerical support for the McPherson Hospital. Assists others in budget preparation for the fiscal year, payroll accounting, general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, and other accounting activities as assigned by Financial Management, to ensure a steady and organized work environment.

Essential Accountabilities

• Maintains knowledge of accounts payable policies and procedures.
• Matches all invoices to purchase orders, receiving reports, contracts, or other authorizing documentation to ensure that payments are correct, timely, and properly authorized.
• Monitors and performs all accounts payable update procedures.
• Matches checks produced to invoices processed to ensure accurate payments.
• Files paid invoices in vendor files to ensure ability to locate paid records.
• Maintains vendor number and information files.
• Voids accounts payable checks issued in error or reported lost/stolen by vendor.
• Monitors credits issued by vendors to ensure proper use by SVRHC.
• Maintains record of accounts payable check registers.
• Reconciles vendor statements to paid and unpaid invoice files.
• Maintains knowledge of 1099 requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of software systems required for processing accounts payable.

Department Specific Accountabilities

• Shows proficient knowledge of Word and Excel and other used applications.
• Abilities to perform using advanced mathematical and analytical skills.

Organization Accountabilities

• Completion of HealthStream’s education by designated due date.
• Model positive and professional interactions between staff, leadership, providers, patients, and visitors.
• Follow all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including donning and doffing of appropriate PPE in your workspace.
• Understand and strictly adhere to HIPAA. Promote a HIPAA compliant campus.
• Must maintain a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the mission, vision, goals, and values of McPherson Center for Health.
• Foster collaborative relationships with peers in the department as well as other staff at McPherson Center for Health, with a particular focus on teamwork.
• Participate in professional development and educational activities. Attend and actively participate in all assigned meetings and in-services.
• Must communicate time off requests by deadlines outlined by your supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or its educational equivalent
• One year’s experience in bookkeeping or accounting activities.
• Capability to sit and work with a computer for extended periods.
• Successful applicants will be self-motivated and able to work well both unsupervised and part of a team.
• Exhibits effective communication skills verbally, through email and phone.
