JOB OVERVIEW

• Responsible for implementation of the Hospitals and Foundation financial policies, including education of all staff, as appropriate.
• Responsible for monitoring adherence to the Hospitals and Foundation financial policies. Administrative responsibility for the Accounting, Treasury, Reimbursement and Decision Support Services (DSS) departments.
• Supervisory responsibility for Accounting department leadership and Finance department employees.
• Financial responsibility for Physician Services business segment.
• Assists the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in treasury functions through monitoring of all investment activity.
• Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures.
• Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and core values for the department and facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(INFORMATION)

• Establish a plan of control through annual budget, including relevant financial performance metrics for all departments while at the same time minimizing “silo” thinking and maximizing “system” thinking.

• Maintain awareness and ensure staff is aware of all regulations and standards to ensure compliance with governmental/regulatory agencies or third party payers.

• Plan educational programs in the area of financial management for Hospitals’ and Foundation management and supervisory staff.

• Compile, coordinate, and analyze facility-wide data to ensure financial viability of the facility.

• Synthesize self-insured employee health insurance coverage financial needs.

• Analyze Medicaid and Medicare regulations maximizing reimbursement.

• Synthesize financial reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

• Synthesize, analyze, coordinate and compute the facility’s overall annual budget.

• Compose necessary internal and external correspondence to effectively communicate with and/or instruct clients and staff.

(PEOPLE)

• Mentor, coach, instruct, and supervise Finance department staff to achieve goals and objectives and ensure compliance with Madonna policies. Maintain regular and open communication regarding day-to-day operations.

• Delegate responsibility to system/department staff and managers to enhance their personal growth and strength of the facility as a whole.

• Negotiate with vendors to secure contracts for services.

• Collaborate, negotiate and mentor others on the Administrative Team and departmental management level to help achieve the financial goals of the facility.

• Communicate with Chief Financial Officer and other leadership regarding general developments, concerns, problems, etc. to ensure quality service delivery.

• Assist Chief Financial Officer in evaluation and adherence to facility mission, and corporate goals.

• Models Madonna’s Core Values through behavior and performance of duties.

• Participates on committees as assigned.

• Follow instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve Madonna goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required. (CPA licensure preferred)
• Five year’s public and/or private health care accounting experience required.
• Proven financial analytic, leadership and problem-solving skills required.
• Three years of leadership, management, and/or supervisory experience preferred, preferably as Budget Manager, Director of Finance, Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills required.
• Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of good driving record.
