Macy’s Looking for Senior Manager, Financial Reporting at Marengo, Ohio Full Time

Overview:

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting will manage the coordination of various internal and external financial reporting and certain central accounting functions and will perform other duties as assigned.

This position is based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Essential Functions:

Internal/External Reporting:

• Coordinate and prepare the quarterly and year-end external financial reports for quarterly earnings releases, 10-Qs, 10-Ks and proxy.
• Review financial statements for benefit plan accounts, including 401K, pension and medical accounts.
• Coordinate preparation of audited financial statements and footnotes for additional entity-level reporting units.
• Ensure that appropriate evidential support is maintained to support all disclosures in the Company’s SEC filings and other financial reports.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external sources (external auditors, actuaries, attorneys, etc.).
• Participate in internal and external audit and SOX 404 efforts, including documentation of processes and facilitating testing of controls, as necessary.
• Participate in the preparation and submission of other internal and external reporting, as necessary.

Central Accounting Functions:

• Responsible for determining the proper accounting and financial reporting impact of certain corporate transactions, including but not limited to, share-based compensation, corporate acquisitions and dispositions, financing and capital transactions, and corporate benefit programs.
• Review the Company’s stock data and EPS calculations.
• Work closely with the benefits group to review financial statements for various plans.
• Provide data to the actuary to analyze and calculate expenses and liabilities for the benefit plans.
• Review and approve various journal entries and account reconciliations.

Other:

• Assist in accounting research for new issues and transactions.
• Assist management decision making in various capacities, including but not limited to, EPS forecasts, competitor analysis, forecasts of share-based compensation, calculation and presentation of non-GAAP financial metrics and modeling of various corporate initiatives and transactions.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA accreditation required with 5-8 years of public or industry accounting experience required.
• SEC reporting experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
• Experience researching and documentation of technical accounting positions for significant corporate transactions, new accounting standards or regulation and other significant or unusual corporate activity.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Reasoning Ability:

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:

• This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing and talking.
• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling or crouching.
• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse and other office equipment.
• May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Other Skills:

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) required,
• Oracle and general ledger a plus.

Work Hours:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
