Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant 2 to support the Controller Division. In this role, you will have the ability to provide support and become a member of the Controller Property Accounting and Accounts Receivable (CNTL-PA-AR) Group.
The selected candidate will report to the Accounts Receivable Team Leader and will provide support to the mission of the group by managing the Other Federal Agency (OFA) and Intergovernmental Personnel Agreement (IPA) for work performed with other Federal agencies. Oversight of this work includes maintaining, billing, and collecting payments from other Federal agencies, resolving issues quickly, efficiently, and collaborating with other teams.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Accounting Experience
Experience working in a complex organization with diverse operations. Demonstrated experience working with Accounts Receivables including maintaining, billing and collecting payments from customers who owe money for goods and services provided. Working knowledge of governmental financial accounting, accounting/financial concepts, and principles to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and proper application of internal controls for accounting operations. Demonstrated understanding of accounting and finance functions.
Problem Solving
Working knowledge and experience researching, gathering, analyzing data, and summarizing results to be able to provide actionable analysis for decision making and solving problems both independently and as a team member. Proven ability to meet deadlines and identify process improvements while supporting the organization’s strategic objectives
Communication/Teamwork
Excellent customer service. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working effectively within a team environment and interacting and networking with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers.
Technology
Demonstrated proficient use of computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Organizational Skills
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to independently establish priorities, manage projects, and execute complex business and financial assignments.
Education/Experience
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and 2 years experience; or, the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience directly related to the occupation. MBA is preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
