This FT role assists with the hiring process, setting up an orientation plan for employees, precepting, directing, and mentoring employees.
Assists with ongoing education for staff, including drills, annual skills, and other educational requirements.
Works on scheduling to ensure all shifts are covered for optimal patient care.
Performs or assists with employee evaluations, as well as positive feedback.
Disciplines or assists with the disciplinary process using positive techniques that emphasize retraining and reteaching rather than punishment and embarrassment.
Assists with leader rounding, BSR observations, and hand hygiene observations.
Assesses and ensures that patient quality is our top priority by ensuring staff are compliant with the hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines. Also ensures that staff are using the Foundation 5 and are engaged with PI projects for the unit.
Performs staffing responsibilities, such as working uncovered shifts, if unable to find coverage.
Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
Prepares staff for potential Joint Commission surveys and educations.
Assists with Kronos timekeeping responsibilities and ordering supplies for the unit.
Attends required monthly leadership meetings.
Updates call trees as needed.
Recognizes staff for their performance/actions.
Conducts monthly staff meetings with employees.
Minimum education
Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) must be current upon hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position.
New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this ‘grace period’ for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description.
Licenses:
Current NM RN license or appropriate RN compact licensure.
