Job OverviewAn Assistant Director of Finance will perform a multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, daily, weekly, monthly bookkeeping for a large hotel with multiple F&B outlets, assist and manage staff at various levels, bank reconciliations, credit card statement reconciliations, month end close duties, preparation and remittance of sales and occupancy taxes and preparation and review of monthly financial statements. An Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with the Director of Finance regarding short and long-term goals and manage expenses within approved budget parameters. The ideal candidate must possess good communication skills, have the ability to resolve conflict and have a thorough understanding of GAAP and LINE policies, procedures and expectations. Because of the fluctuating demands of the company’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed. Responsibilities
Must be courteous and gracious, always maintaining a professional demeanor
Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
Communicate with Management team regarding P&Ls, budgets, financial forecasts, etc.
Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping/data entry done by staff
Ensure deadlines are met by each department in order to deliver Month End in a timely manner
Assist AP, AR and Income Audit with journal entries as needed
Process Month End and Year End, adhering to all applicable deadlines
Prepare Month End and Year End Financial Statements for Review, within set deadlines
Perform analysis of financial statements and reconciliations on balance sheet
Prepare and submit all relevant taxes for the LINE DC
Assist with the annual audit
Actively participate in the management of the PO System and corporate policies and procedures
Help to establish/correct policies and procedures related to accounting functions, cash control, meeting deadlines, etc.
Take ownership of all accounting issues brought to your attention by guests
Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the hotel
Participate in scheduled departmental and administrative meetings as requested
Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions
Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements
Core Competencies
Three (3) years related experience in hospitality or service industry, with at least one (1) year in a hospitality finance management role preferred
