Processes new business requests, renewals, endorsements, policy writing instructions, and other transactions for one or more commercial casualty underwriters in order to help them reach growth, retention and other business goals. Sets up account services with other departments (billing, loss control, claims, etc.) after the policy is sold. Uses advanced knowledge and skills to handle moderately complex account work, solve problems, and provide technical support, training and leadership to others. Prepares renewals, new business and endorsement requests for the underwriter by gathering and evaluating exposure data (credit information, claims history, statements of values, etc.) and entering information into databases. Prepares clear, accurate policy writing and billing instructions for business policy production and verifies the policy was produced accurately and on time. Sets up various post-sale account services with other departments, including identifying contacts for the policyholder, initiating the issuing process. Initiates and responds promptly to telephone and written inquiries about processing, policy changes requests, billing status, new applications, and ratings. Keeps the virtual underwriting files properly documented and organized with accurate, clear and complete information. Participates in stewardship meetings and production calls as directed by the underwriter. Evaluates policies, processes procedures and may recommend changes to management to improve productivity, reduce expense and/or enhance customer service. Intermediate knowledge of commercial property/casualty pricing models, coverages, endorsements, forms, cancellation/conditional renewal requirements, terms, processes and internal service departments. Basic knowledge of commercial lines products and contract language including regulatory and policy differences among applicable states. Ability to perform work accurately, timely and with only moderate supervision. Capabilities include critical thinking/problem solving, decision making, customer focus, detail orientation, written/verbal communications, organization, adaptability, courtesy, dependability and ability to learn/apply new information quickly and accurately. Knowledge, skills and capabilities typically acquired through 2 or more years of related work experience. Associates or bachelor s degree preferred.
