The Position
LMI is seeking an individual to join the Financial Planning & Analysis team, as part of the Investment Enabling Services business unit. LMI’s FP&A team is focused on supporting the business of investing by providing expert analysis and understanding of various investment strategies, their life cycles, and relationships to the broader financial markets. FP&A partners with LMI’s investment professionals to navigate through complex accounting and reporting needs throughout the investment life cycle with a forward-looking view of the portfolio as a whole as well as individual transactions. FP&A is responsible for coordinating with Strategy & Asset Allocation, Risk Management, and Corporate Finance to drive alignment and understanding of portfolio construction and the impact to LMIG’s financial position. The primary focus of this role will be financial analysis, forecasting, and general support of the private investment portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the financial plan and forecast for one or more of LMI’s private investment teams, including Private Equity, Real Estate, Private Credit, and Energy Transition & Infrastructure
- Detailed analysis of business results and reporting on variances to plan to various stake holders, including executive members of the Global Partners & Innovation and Global Fixed Income teams.
- Monitoring of new investment opportunities and changes in the macro-economic environment to assess future implications to LMI’s financial statement results and cash flow
- Partner across IBUs to ensure consistency in understanding of potential future outcomes for the investment portfolio given various economic scenarios
- Assist in developing standardized reporting tools to drive analysis and understanding of the private investment portfolio
- Assist in coordinating monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc executive summaries of financial results and forward-looking views for consumption by LMI’s CFO, COO, CIO, and LMIG’s Board of Directors
- Partner across business units to support our strategic Data and Digital Transformation journey
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships within LMI, Liberty Mutual Group Corporate Finance, and external vendors
Qualifications
- Bachelor`s degree (Finance or Accounting) required. CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of finance experience.
- Detailed understanding of credit investments, including Limited Partnerships, direct private investments, structured products, and other marketable securities preferred.
- Prior experience with public and private credit investments and planning tools such as Simcorp, eFront, Anaplan, Aladdin, Cobalt, and Burgiss a plus.
- Must demonstrate ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced work environment, adapting quickly to changing conditions to achieve results.
- Facilitates cross-functional collaboration and communicates effectively to a wide variety of audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable leading meetings and making presentations to increasingly large audiences. Advanced understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods.
