Our Global Tax team serves as a central part in the success of the Labcorp business. We are seeking an Associate Director of Federal Income Tax Compliance & Reporting, reporting to our Director of Income Tax Accounting & Reporting, to provide federal income tax and technical knowledge to the global tax department. The ideal candidate will have federal income tax, ASC-740 income tax accounting, consolidated federal and state tax compliance, and leadership capabilities and experience. In this role, you will assist the global tax team with preparing and reviewing its quarterly and annual income tax provision and US federal and state consolidated returns. Other key components of this role will be leadership skills assisting with developing, mentoring, and leading the global tax team, assisting with special projects, and working closely with the company’s financial statement auditors. A successful candidate will be able to work on complex workflows that involve multiple stakeholders and build strong relationships within Tax and across the company, but not limited to the following:
Assist with the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual global income tax provisions and financial statement disclosures prepared by the global tax team;
Review and manage the preparation of the US federal consolidated return and quarterly estimated tax payments and work closely with the SALT team to coordinate the SALT returns and estimated payments;
Review account reconciliations and annual provision to return adjustments;
Assist with leading and running a variety of tax controversy projects;
Conduct technical research and analysis by documenting within technical memorandums supporting tax accounting positions the Company has taken;
Assist with special projects including but not limited to: M&A transactions, federal and state tax reform, International Tax, Transfer Pricing, R&D Tax credit, Pillar 2 and BEPS, among others;
Work with the tax operations team to implement process improvements and automation;
Assist with maintaining and documenting key SOX controls;
Be a key leader with mentoring and developing staff members with federal income tax compliance/tax accounting and general tax knowledge;
Maintain a strong working relationship with key strategic business partners in Accounting, Internal Audit, FP&A, Treasury, and Legal to accomplish Tax and Company objectives;
Work collaboratively with others within and outside of his or her function to achieve goals, simplify processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed accurately and on time;
Adhere consistently with all Labcorp employment policies and practices;
Drive sustainable, outstanding business results through traditional management functions including, but not limited to, sourcing and selecting talent, coaching and development, workforce and project scheduling, performance assessment, and general talent planning.
Education
Master of Science or Master of Business Administration, and a CPA required; additional work experience may be accepted as a substitution for educational requirements.
Experience/Qualifications
8+ years of technical U.S. federal income tax and technical tax accounting experience required (Big 4 experience preferred);
Experience working on large compliance engagements by leading a team and working with service providers, experience with CorpTax is a plus;
Treasury experience is a plus;
Process improvements and automation experience utilizing programs such as Alteryx and other workflow programs;
Strong analytical skills;
Has superb written and verbal communication skills.
