The Position:
The Vice President, Finance will oversee the Financial Planning and Analysis function of the organization. This executive will foster an entrepreneurial spirit, need to be strategic while detail-oriented, be data-driven and have operational finance experience. The VP, Finance will be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from accounting to corporate finance to financial reporting and systems to treasury operations. We are seeking a hands-on, self-starter who has worked at a medium to large media or entertainment brand and possesses strong business partnering skills.
The VP, Finance will report to the Chief Financial Officer and strive to establish Finance as an analytical thinktank that can be effectively leveraged by all parts of the organization to achieve strategic objectives. The VP, Finance will work closely with the Kino Lorber management team, Kino Lorber accounting team and Kino Lorber operational teams.
Responsibilities:
· Direct and coordinate business unit (BU) financial planning and budgeting. Develop annual operating plan, long-range plan, and interim forecasts across all Kino Lorber subsidiaries and departments. Work closely with the accounting team to monitor the monthly closes. Craft management reporting and analysis which delivers impactful commercial insights to drive effective decision-making and achievement of strategic, financial, and operational objectives and performance targets. Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations, business plans, contract negotiations, and product investment decisions. Financial models include operating revenue and expense, cash flow, capital and headcount planning.
· Lead corporate cash-flow analysis and forecasting in anticipation of the company’s daily cash needs and future cash flows to improve and optimize the company’s liquidity position. Assist CFO in potential financing and management thereof.
· Advise the company of the financial implications and risks related to underlying business and important strategic decisions and communicate in real time the ongoing financial condition of the business.
· Work closely with other senior executives to understand key business drivers and formulate financial objectives, both short and long-term. Help establish clear KPIs and monitor ongoing performance against these objectives.
· Provide unbiased partnership and a financial lens to critical decisions that will have long term impact on our business model.
· Assist the CFO in allocation of capital and resources to drive highest ROI.
· Contribute strategic input on the financial due diligence and analysis for any acquisitions, divestitures, and/or collaborations with external organizations.
· Assume an advisory role in all contracts and agreements the company may be considering.
· Communicate clearly and professionally to create and manage board and investor communications and pivot necessary analysis to properly identify the most relevant information.
· Partner directly with accounting to provide timely, accurate, and relevant periodic reporting and develop a communication plan that makes it easy for the business to digest and manage against.
· Streamline current tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information and make actionable recommendations with respect to strategy and operations. Collaborate with Accounting on the maintenance and implementation of financial and accounting systems enhancements, processes, tools, and control systems with a focus on automation to effectively scale the business.
· Ensure maintenance of appropriate divisional internal controls and financial procedures.
Background & Qualifications:
· MBA in Finance, Accounting or Business with accounting concentration is strongly preferred. CPA a plus. 12-15 years of experience in a mid to senior-level finance position including 8 years in entertainment & media. Subscription and/or streaming business model experience a plus. Ideally, candidate will have a mix of investment banking, FP&A, corporate finance, and strategy finance experience.
· Finance leadership experience in operational finance roles in medium to large media businesses with full P&L and working capital management responsibility. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Exceptional analytical skills including ability to build budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans across multiple businesses to appropriately reflect and drive profitable growth. Expertise in short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and business unit profitability analysis.
· Expertise in both doing as well as directing modeling, valuation, and industry analysis.
· Proven track record forecasting and managing cash flow.
· Data-driven and results-oriented with strong follow-through. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be resourceful in the face of ambiguity.
· Proactive orientation in helping the company position itself to grow revenue profitably. Proven track record of delivering meaningful and quantifiable business benefits and optimizing performance, through seeing opportunities and risks and working with business leaders to effectively address these. Track record of deep understanding of the underlying business drivers behind each line in the P&L and working capital dynamics.
· Strategic problem solver with the ability to translate strategy into pragmatic operational plans and execute against them.
· Excellent relationship skills, combined with presence and confidence, to interact with executive team and senior business management to positively impact decisions and drive improved business outcomes.
· A true collaborator who knows when to lead and when to compromise is a critical component of success in this role.
· Self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills, and the ability to apply those qualities to work successfully.
· Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to create and articulate complex stories and data in a clear, concise, and compelling way to senior management (PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides).
· Familiarity with robust FP&A tools. Experience in the implementation and development of financial systems. Ability to learn new methods and technologies easily.
This role is based in the NYC metro area and is hybrid. Currently, that includes two days in the office and three days remote.
Salary Range: $153,000 to $207,000
