The Finance Manager -Clinical Forecasting will be responsible for supervising a team of direct reports across multiple therapeutic areas, providing portfolio oversight, driving strategic decision making and owning the accountability of day-to-day operations for the Clinical Forecasting Specialist (CFS) role. The role will take a leadership role in defining the strategy of the CFS group, inclusive of creating efficiency through process and technology improvements, aligning, and communicating roles and responsibilities, and managing trial allocation and volume for the team. The position will also lead portfolio review meetings with Global Operational Heads and Finance partners, drive consistency in the cross-TA support model, provide managerial oversight of goal and objective setting and development plans for internal direct reports and lead training activities for the CFS team while promoting a cohesive and collaborative team environment which celebrates diversity of thought. The manager – Clinical Forecasting will report to the R&D Project Planning Lead – CFS who is responsible for cross-TA portfolio oversight of the department.
The Finance Manager – Clinical Forecasting will also be responsible to work directly on trial teams, driving cross-functional discussions to translate the functional needs for successfully operating a clinical trial into the clinical development operations Out-of-Pocket (OOP) forecast. This is accomplished by proactively partnering with the clinical functions to provide trial cost scenario planning, managing all aspects of OOP updates including those for Business Plan, Long Range Financial Plan, and Continuous Forecast Cycles and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of monthly and quarterly forecasting and closing cycles. For the closing cycles, the manager will support the functions on budget vs actuals analysis to identify required accruals, reclasses, and advanced payments to align to the budgetary forecast target within that quarter for their assigned trials, as well as deliver commentary to their respective partners. Additionally, the role will support the Program Coordinators, Program Management Team (PMT), and clinical functions by completing a variety of operational activities including functional detailed forecasting of work deliverables, drivers, name assignments, algorithm review, reason codes, and associated reporting. The role will provide day-to-day operational support & maintenance of accurate project, trial and country level study planning with associated reporting and function specific process activities.
