Director of Finance

The Director of Finance will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the accounts’ payable function, Accounts Receivables, Budgeting, Federal Cooperative Agreements, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.

The Director of Finance will report directly to the CFO to conduct analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Analyze different company expenses to spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending (e.g., company mobile phone plan)
• Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Manage accounting staff
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles

Qualifications

• The position generally requires at least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance in a leading position
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like SAGE
• Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
• Relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) will be preferred

Strong technical expertise in accounting and tax

• Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 per year
