The Accountant supports Jefferson County Human Services Department with complex accounting duties. This involves collaborating with the financial team, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring accuracy in the general ledger, month end closing, reconciliations, and grants, fiscal, financial, and expenditure reports.
Currently, this position will be working Monday through Friday working remotely and potentially shifting into a hybrid remote and non-remote schedule. Equipment will be provided. Ex: Computer and monitor.
Full pay range for Job Profile – $47,712 – 73,953 Annually
Anticipated Hiring Salary – $60,000 annually
Compensation will be based on education, experience, and skills.
The Accountant will be responsible for:
Analyzing and preparing various financial, fiscal and accounting reports and records
Reviewing reports for internal and external use
Preparing documents for expenditure reporting to State and Federal agencies and other grant programs using multiple financial systems
Reconciling bank statements, accounts for State and Federal revenue and expenditures, and other various grant programs
Reviewing accounts and perform various accounting functions for all the Human Services programs
Maintaining the general ledger, preparing accurate and concise adjusting entries to the general ledger
Assisting peers with accounting tasks
Preparing and presenting to stakeholders including program managers and/or division and department directors
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes that will lead to success in this role include:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with emphasis on government accounting
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience in government accounting
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in government accounting is highly preferred.
