Exciting on-site (Chicopee, MA) leadership role in a rapidly growing cannabis company. We are looking for a highly talented individual to oversee all financial business units, which have been set by geographic location, and deliver on consolidated period end reporting. This position would immediately have five total direct reports (4 Business Unit Controllers, 1 Fixed Asset Manager) to manage. This individual needs to have a strong understanding of accounting cycles and systems and be able to implement and update processes that establish consistencies across business units on a continual basis. Strong background in GAAP accounting, financial mindset, and business acumen required. Must also possess strong communication, organizational, technological, and leadership skills. Essential Functions: Oversee day-to-day transactional accounting for all business units. Provide KPIs for measuring Accounting Department performance; measure goals and provide feedback. Learn our new ERP accounting system built on Sage X3; become fluent in that system and the separate BI software (Sage Data Analytics). Consider RPA or other technology that could improve current processes. Consider expense tracking software for employee reimbursements. Communicate financial data monthly to internal shareholders; support company financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations and directing staff. Help prepare and present financial data quarterly for external shareholders. Draft/update SOPs that maintain and/or improve accounting processes across all business units in our new accounting system. Tighten up month, quarter, and year end close processes; implement internal controls and best practices. Review all period end workpapers and provide feedback to department. Planning, organizing, and coordinating for annual year end financial statement audit with external auditors. Planning, organizing, and coordinating annual inventory physical counts. Ensure successful and timely completion of the Company’s tax filings and payments. Minimize legally required taxes by studying regulations, consulting with external tax accountants, and presenting tax strategies to management. Liaison for annual transfer pricing study for corporate cost center. Liaison for all insurance, bank, governmental audits during the year. Establish annual budget process. Provide financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information, and advising department on the collection and analysis of data. Cash management. Maintain sufficient funds by forecasting future cash requirements and obligations. Risk management; insurance procurement. New entity/business set up, including business tax registration in state of operation, bank accounts, insurance, etc. Expense monitoring/management; deploy methods in which Accounting can continually monitor and reduce cost. Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff as we continue to grow. Qualifications: BA (in Accounting) required; Master’s (in Business Administration, Accounting, or Taxation) preferred Certifications: CPA, CFA, CFP, or CMA certifications strongly preferred 5 year public accounting experience strongly preferred 10 years of total public/private accounting experience 7 years of management experience Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Sage ERP familiarity Competencies: Leadership Communication Teamwork Interpersonal skills Attention to detail Ability to work in fast-paced environment Focused on resultsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
