The Risk & Finance Vice Presidency Unit (VPU) helps to ensure that IFC is sufficiently capitalized and financially sustainable to grow its operations through prudent risk management at the corporate, portfolio, project, and client levels. It strives to set best practice standards in risk management to drive sustainable private sector development in emerging markets.

IFC is seeking to recruit a Vice President to lead the Risk and Finance VPU to be based in Washington, D.C. This key leadership role provides overall direction for IFC’s Risk and Finance function and is charged with ensuring that a thorough oversight is maintained over all IFC’s activities in a complex, global, and decentralized environment. The Vice President will oversee IFC’s Controller, Investment & Credit Risk, Corporate Risk Management, and Special Operations departments, leading a team of approximately 300 people. S/he will report to the IFC Managing Director and will be a member of the IFC Management Team. S/he will also work with other senior leaders across the WBG.

Duties and Accountabilities

Business

• Provide leadership for IFC’s risk and finance functions, including market, liquidity, funding, credit, and operational risks across the Corporation.
• Oversee IFC’s Controller’s function, including internal controls over financial reporting, to ensure compliance with the Corporation’s standards.
• Develop and manage IFC’s enterprise risk management frameworks and processes.
• Guide the development of risk management initiatives.
• Work closely with the various Vice Presidents across IFC and WBG to ensure that business delivery is in line with all aspects of the Corporation’s risk frameworks.
• Promote continuous learning and catalyze new ideas, business models, and innovation in IFC’s response to client, country, and global development challenges.
• Interact with the members of IFC’s Board and actively participate in the Board Meetings, as well as chair technical briefings and other workshops.
• As needed, represent IFC in internal and external events and strengthen IFC’s global brand.

Knowledge Management and Partnerships

• Plan and oversee the implementation of relevant knowledge-management, knowledge-sharing and thought leadership objectives and strategies in areas of expertise within the VPU.
• Work closely with other VPs to ensure that lessons of experience from IFC operations, including from workout cases, are captured, curated and disseminated across the corporation and contribute to the WBG’s global knowledge bank.
• Manage relationships with other DFIs in order to coordinate relevant developments, emerging trends and consistent policies and approaches.

People and Resource Management

• Attract resources, both financial and talent, including hiring and developing diverse talent, to achieve the business objectives.
• Provide overall leadership and people management, fostering diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment.
• Manage overall budget for the Vice Presidency with a goal to increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
