Job Summary and Qualifications
The Senior Director Finance is responsible for providing financial leadership to the Business Unit leaders as an extension of their leadership team within HCA Healthcare Research Institute (HRI). The Senior Director is an exceptional accountant that provides industry and operations knowledge to advise the BU leadership on strategies and tactics to effectively and efficiently grow the business. The Senior Director effectively partners with the VP of Research, CFO, Controller, Director of Financial Systems and Reporting to leverage the capabilities of these organizations to deliver insights to their assigned business unit. The Sr. Director directly assists the Vice President and on all strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, operating results, forecasting needs, analysis of acquisition opportunities, and analysis to support healthcare reimbursement and vendor
negotiations. The Finance Senior Director is a key member of the Research leadership team providing insight and thought leadership on the effectiveness and direction of Research lines of business.
Major Responsibilities:
Partners with Business Unit leadership in the formulation of business strategies and plans to effectively and efficiently grow business unit profitability
Lead strategic planning for the BU to deliver services and programs effectively and efficiently
Proactively identifies opportunities to improve revenue or reduce operating expenses in the delivery of business unit products and services
Communicate key BU financial information to senior executives within the company and clients to ensure informed decision making
Coordinates with other areas of Finance and CFO to identify cross business unit opportunities and share lessons learned or business opportunities
Effectively leverages the accounting and reporting capabilities of the Controller, budgeting, and reporting functions to focus assigned resources on developing insight from the reported data
Lead and develop business cases to guide investment decisions including incremental resources, potential partnerships, and asset acquisition
Supports contract negotiations related to business partners, suppliers, and customers
Leads and develops colleagues required to deliver assigned responsibilities
Advises business unit leaders to ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls and organization policies
Establishes reporting structures to manage the effectiveness of research programs and ongoing operations
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Master’s Degree preferred
7+ years of experience in Finance
CPA preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:

Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP
Knowledge of accounting processes and information systems
Knowledge of cost accounting principles and reporting techniques
