Job Summary and Qualifications
As Director Employee Benefits Finance and Strategy, you will provide forward-thinking leadership to mitigate plan costs and successfully navigate the ever-changing regulatory environment. You will create cost and network efficiencies through improved expense management and program design. You will provide credible analysis, benchmarking and recommendations to executive leadership to drive and validate decisions on overall employee benefit strategy and to ensure goals align with HCA’s overall strategy. You will also mitigate financial risks through oversight of benefit plan financials, vendor negotiations and accounting processes. You will utilize analytic framework and finance foundation to drive sound business decisions for the employee benefits COE.
Your responsibilities will include:
Partner with benefits COE leadership to provide strategic direction on all benefit plan design and financial modeling to manage $2B in plan expense and align strategies with overall targets set by executive leadership.
Leverage analyst team, actuarial resources and third party analytic partners to identify key areas of opportunities for increased steerage to HCA affiliates.
Work with clinical partners, hospital operators and Payer Contracting & Alignment (PCA) to leverage clinical centers of excellence and growing lines of business through evaluating and identifying pilot programs for the employee benefit plans.
Evaluate third party vendor’s product offerings and pricing competitiveness to identify cost reduction opportunities and ensure added value for employees and HCA.
Oversee financial accounting for COE and work with Corporate Accounting and HRG Finance to develop best practices.
Guide the HCA Development team on acquisitions to identify financial risks related to benefits expense and develop plans and pricing to integrate new facilities into HCA’s benefit strategy.
Develop and enhance performance guarantees with third party administrators to maximize financial performance.
Ensure financial controls are in place to protect assets of employee benefit plan and work with internal and external audit partners to validate and test controls.
Direct monthly incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserve process at corporate level to maintain adequate liability on books.
Provide relevant and actionable analytics and reporting to executive leadership for all benefit financials. Develop dashboard to monitor ongoing expense trends.
Financial leadership and management skills
Leadership skills to motivate and influence benefits team and matrix partners; provide recommendations to Sr. Leadership
Strong knowledge of employee benefits industry, products and trends
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelors Degree is required
7+ years of experience in the field of healthcare (Insurance, Hospital Finance, Analytics, Consulting, etc.) is required
Managerial experience is preferred
Medical Actuarial or Underwriting background is preferred
Hospital finance experience is preferred
