The Assistant Director of Finance and Administration will lead financial planning, analysis, and management, act as the custodian of financial data, perform diverse and in-depth financial analysis, track expenses and income flows, ensure accuracy of financial accounting, and oversee the budget utilization for projects, unrestricted and restricted funds.
Operationally, this person will facilitate diverse financial analysis for GL and BSC programs, and will provide financial planning, budget analysis, and up-to-date reporting.
The GL engages in multiple complex policy engagements around the world funded by sponsored research from donor organizations (USAID) and country governments, and unrestricted gifts. This position requires knowledge and excellent stewardship of financial process to keep the lab in compliance with financial regulations and requirements from funders.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
5 or more years of demonstrated financial and operational experience; bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field (master’s degree preferred).
Strong financial knowledge, detail oriented and the ability to work independently.
Proven ability to handle sensitive data with discretion, creatively solve problems, generate new and improved financial processes, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Expert user of Excel, including spreadsheet modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis, and financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles.
Understanding of Harvard University/Non-Profit Organization financial processes, chart of accounts, and supporting tools valuable and interest in international economic development and developing countries.

Salary Range: $81,000 – $138,400
Note: Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range; however, they are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.
