CORE and/or BACK-UP ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Provide technical support for accounting systems and transaction coding
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Manage a staff accountant; assign work, mentor, advise and review performance
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Assist with tax audits and tax returns
Assist with annual budget preparation
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Plan, assign and review staff’s work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Perform impact studies for new accounting and tax policies and regulation changes
Liaise with various department managers to improve financial procedures

Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds is preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred
4-year accounting degree or related study required
3 or more years of GL accounting or public accounting experience
Experience working with complex software is a plus
Mortgage accounting knowledge is a plus
Construction accounting experience is a plus
Retail accounting experience is a plus
Intermediate to advanced computer and Excel skills required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be run for insurance purposes
Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under the company’s insurance policy is prerequisite; occasional driving required
Ability to travel to and from meetings and appointments in locations and times when public transportation isunavailable
Must be able to pass background and credit checks
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for employment
WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS:
Most work is performed indoors
Long periods of time sitting at a computer entering and analyzing data
Some tasks involve working with volunteers and staff, while other tasks are performed independently in a quiet setting
The starting pay range for this position is $70,536 – $77,511 with consideration given for applicable education and experience above the minimum requirements.
