Position Summary
This Finance position is a key leadership role in the start-up of the Great Hearts network in Louisiana. The position s to the Great Hearts America CFO with a strong dotted line to the Founding Head of School of Great Hearts Harveston. The position will work closely with the Founding Head of School to both support the successful start-up of our first campus and the network’s future strategic direction and establishing policies and procedures which guide Great Hearts Harveston’s financial operations and assist in the achievement of the planned growth.
The successful candidate will provide Financial Leadership and coordination of Great Hearts Harveston’s financial planning, budget management functions and ensure accounting procedures and ing conform to generally accepted accounting principles and Louisiana and East Baton Rouge Education standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Financial Planning, ing, Modeling, and Analysis.
· Work closely with the Founding Head of School to develop financial targets for budgeting.
· Work with the Great Hearts Finance Team to provide timely, needed, high quality financial ing for Great Hearts Harveston.
· Monitor and forecast cash balances and needs for Great Hearts Harveston.
· Create high quality materials to meet board and funder needs
· Budget Management and Support
· Partner with the Founding Head of School to set and meet budgets targets in a start-up environment.
· Provide accurate monthly ing, insights, and recommendations for improvements.
· Manage the annual budgeting process and oversee adherence to those budgets.
· Accounting in the GHA Matrixed Financial Organization
· Represent and advocate for GH Harveston needs through the rest of the financial organization and in other functions that require partnership with finance (HR, Talent, Compliance).
· Partner with various Great Hearts Finance Team Leaders and supporting staff to ensure GH Harveston expenses are coded and paid correctly for smooth financial operations and ing.
· Identify roadblocks to smooth processes that hinder the success of GH Harveston and partner with finance colleagues to improve processes and needed training.
· Support treasury operations, including cash forecasts, cash transfers, debt management, and banking.
· Prepare/monitor accounting entries and reconciliations to ensure a high quality of accounting.
· Prepare for/support annual high-quality Annual Audit and 990 preparations as needed.
· Financial Compliance and Growth Planning
· Responsible for ensuring the preparation and submittal of third-party financial s and relevant grant ing.
· Responsible for GH Harveston financial compliance
Other
· Other duties as assigned including possibly some non-finance activities.
· Leadership team meetings and GH Harveston and GH Finance team collaboration.
· Hiring and management responsibility aligned to growth.
Qualifications, Competencies, and Strengths
· Education and Years’ Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance at minimum.
· CPA strongly preferred.
· Master’s degree preferred.
· At minimum, eight years of accounting/finance work experience.
· Experience in education-related industry experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
· Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial s, statements and projections.
· Extensive knowledge of target setting, short and long term budgeting, forecasting, financial projections.
· Collaborative approach to problem solving and the ability to work effectively with individuals on all levels (internally and externally).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong computer/software skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
· Proficient with Teams, Google, Outlook, etc.
· Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge, Adaptive budgeting software, Concur, UltiPro/UKG preferred .

Additional Requirements
Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Louisiana Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Travel required: Depending on location will need to perform some amount of monthly travel.
