Position Description
The Finance Director will support GoggleWorks mission to transform lives through unique interactions with art. The Finance Director contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization.

The Finance Director will be responsible for all of the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, posting journal entries, producing financial reports and general day-to-day recordkeeping.

Reports to
The Finance Director works independently and cooperatively with staff and reports directly to the Executive Director

Key Responsibilities
Develop and present timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement; effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the Executive Director and board of directors

• Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity to individual departments
• Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and prepare the annual budget in conjunction with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and other key staff; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes
• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors
• Serve on the Executive Committee, developing strategic initiatives and policies with the Executive Director and Board
• Work with the Treasurer to ensure essential filings, including tax, legal documents, and insurance paperwork
• Ensure that the client billing and collection schedule is adhered to so that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements
• Work with staff to ensure all accounts payable are entered and checks are issued to pay the bills on a weekly basis
• Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded
• Participate in the negotiation and management of the employee insurance and benefits plans
• Advise the organization’s leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the organization
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures in regards to cash management, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
• Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
• Ensure vendor 1099s and associated reports are prepared on a timely basis at year-end
• Act as substitute to complete payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (or comparable combination of experience and education) in accounting, finance or related business field
• The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area
• Ability to translate financial concepts to, and to effectively collaborate with, department directors who may not necessarily have finance backgrounds
• Technology savvy with extensive knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
• Non-profit, retail or operations experience a plus
• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of GoggleWorks
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Knowledge of federal and state legislation affecting charities
• Ability to multitask and meet required deadlines
