Director of Finance Summary/Objective We seek a dynamic financial leader for our fast-growing non-profit organization. The successful candidate will act as an innovative resource to the Chief Growth Officer and the Senior team. . We are looking for an exceptional communicator who is looking to support the multi-location organization by providing strategic financial input to the senior management and the Executive Directors. While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the successful Director of Finance will play a key role in developing and implementing financial reporting systems and execute on strategies which would inform and encourage organizational process and profit improvements. . Key Objectives: Advise the Chief Growth officer and other key executives on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters. Execute on an Integrated Financial, Marketing, and Development Strategy to achieve annual revenue goals Take the organization to the next level. . Work to transition the organization from organic entrepreneurial growth to structured systems and processes. Accountable for banking, audits and other compliance and regulatory needs Board reporting and presentations. . Key Qualifications and Responsibilities: Strategy, Planning and Management Act as strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team. Evaluate financial performance of organization regarding long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. . Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization. Communicate, engage and interact with Chief Growth Officer, Founder, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team. . Serve as primary liaison with financial community partners while ensuring banking relationships are well maintained. Serve as a key member of executive leadership team and round table discussion panel. . Interact with and bring department into line with Board of Directors’ plans, initiatives and recommendations. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. . Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team. Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets. . Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and weekly cash flow by division. . Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations. Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings. . Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget. Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. . Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff. Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures. . Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for Banks and company’s board of directors. Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements. . Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns. Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance. . Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies. Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. . Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems Hire, develop and manage accounting directors, managers and staff Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits. . Financial Relations and Policies Develop, projections and budgets aligned with corporate strategies. Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors and officials. . Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations. Finance and Accounting Team Management Mentor and develop the accounting team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic. . Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals. Assign accountabilities, set objectives, and clearly communicate expectations on key team projects. . Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with strong Accounting experience Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience in a mid to senior level finance or accounting position, and a CPA (preferred) Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. . Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis. .
