GENERAL ATOMICS Looking for Senior Financial Analyst – MQ-9 Systems Product Line at San Diego, CA Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning and Analysis group located in Poway, CA. This position reports to the MQ-9 Systems Product Line Finance Manager and will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of a comprehensive portfolio of products and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports budgeting and forecasting for key financial metrics – Bookings, Revenue, Profit, Cash
  • Quarterly forecast coordination, analysis and reporting, variance analysis of actual performance vs. budget/forecast, and support forward pricing rate proposal development
  • Engages in planning and reporting activities related to B&P, IR&D, Capital, and Inventory for multiple business areas
  • Coordinates with Product line leadership to develop and track indirect departmental overhead expense budgets and forecast updates
  • Provides timely, relevant, accurate reporting, and analysis of the product line financial performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic plan targets
  • Provides variance analysis, and ad hoc analytics to support executive business decisions, routinely provides financial performance trends, both historical & forecasted, using appropriate metrics
  • Supports collaborative development of modeling tools, review of existing financial processes and development of new and/or improved planning processes, identify financial issues, recommend solutions and provide corrective actions
  • Provides support for executive level presentations, including financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits, and ad-hoc reporting
  • Preforms special projects to improve process efficiency and performance as assigned by Management
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Preforms other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance and ten or more years of progressive professional cost accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably with a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • An MBA in accounting or finance, CPA or CMA certification, and/or experience negotiating accounting issues is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office – especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) experience highly desirable
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of industry and government cost accounting principles, theories, concepts, standards, and practices, with the ability to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems of diverse scope and complexity; (2) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present accounting and finance findings; (3) excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including executives and senior external parties on accounting and finance matters; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (5) the ability to represent the department or company on projects and; (6) excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
